Closed for Maintenance: The Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands have developed a distinctive initiative to manage the physical impact of tourism while bringing visitors and residents together. The Cohort will examine how the islands balance access, maintenance, community participation and economic benefit, and what UK destinations could learn from the model.

Energy Security and Rare Earth Minerals

Rare earth minerals and key components underpin European industry, defence and clean energy, and almost all the supply chain runs through areas overseas.

The UK’s AI Capability

The cohort will spend time with AI engineers, building their own agent, and learns how AI actually works and where it is relevant for each scheme.

Digital Payments and Fintech

The UK is a global payments hub generating tens of billions in exports and high-skilled jobs, and that position is not guaranteed with other nations developing fast-growing fintech industries.

The cohort will spend time at a new housing development and see how homes actually get financed, planned, built at scale and made energy efficient in the process.

Journey of a Package: Logistics Deep Dive

Last mile logistics has increasingly become the backbone of a variety of industries, with online ordering reshaping high streets, warehousing reshaping the planning system and gig work reshaping the labour market.

Defence Industrial Manufacturing

Almost 200,000 skilled jobs sit inside the UK defence industry, sustaining the country's position as the world's second largest defence exporter and underpinning sovereign capability.

How Do We Actually Fund Growth?

Canary Wharf workshop using practical case studies to examine how investment is secured, how growth is financed and what helps businesses and infrastructure projects move forward.

Heritage and Modernisation on a Live Infrastructure Project

The cohort will go onto a live project inside the Parliamentary estate to see a modernisation project in real time, and see the apprenticeship and post 16 routes into heritage trades and what would help these routes scale

Transport Connectivity

Transport connectivity shapes regional growth, access to opportunity and the resilience of national supply chains. This proposed module will examine major rail, road and port infrastructure to understand how investment decisions are made and how projects translate into local economic outcomes.

Manufacturing in the UK

Manufacturing investment decisions turn on skills, energy costs, planning and confidence, and the UK is competing for that investment against countries with cheaper power and faster sites.

Building an AI Future

AI is already reshaping productivity, safety and the structure of work. UK regulation, skills and infrastructure decisions in the next few years will decide whether the country leads or follows.

Major Project Planning

The cohort will run an on-site planning simulation at a super prison build to see if this is true, where the UK is doing well and where overrun and cost escalation occur.
