Against the backdrop of the ICC Women's T20 Cricket World Cup, this visit brings together parliamentarians and industry leaders for a day exploring the state of women's sport in the UK, beginning with a workshop hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) charting the journey of women's cricket and the landmark achievement of hosting a T20 World Cup on home soil. Members will examine what it takes to deliver a major international event of this scale, and how government policy and public investment can support governing bodies in doing so.
Beyond cricket, members will hear from a range of voices shaping women's sport today, including representatives from the WTA, Strava, City Lionesses and rugby, exploring the common challenges faced across disciplines and the strategies driving progress.
The visit also shines a light on the commercial infrastructure underpinning professional sport. Senior figures from some of the biggest sponsors in the industry will share why they invest in women's sport and what that investment means for athletes, competitions, and audiences alike.
The day culminates with members taking their seats to watch England face the West Indies in a Group Stage match of the T20 World Cup.
