Overview

Interconnectors are a structural part of the UK's power grid, importing cheap power when wind is low and exporting it when wind generation creates a surplus. The cohort will go on site at Viking Link, the world's longest land and sea interconnector, supplying 2.5 million households.

Learning outcomes: See how an interconnector operates; understand import and export decisions; examine its role in price stability, grid resilience and renewable integration.
