Headline Outcomes
Members will understand how surgical cases are prioritised and how workforce, theatre and equipment constraints shape waiting lists and patient outcomes.
Overview

Waiting lists are frequently raised by constituents, but the clinical reality behind them is rarely seen; surgeons requiring over a decade of training, theatre capacity rationed by staff and kit, and patients prioritised case by case. The cohort will go inside surgical wards in Manchester to see how those decisions actually get made.

Learning outcomes: Observe how clinical prioritisation works; understand the length and structure of surgical training; examine how staffing and theatre capacity constrain delivery.
